Not happy on February 25, 2010 by George from Wisconsin

  • Pros: some good news articles
  • Cons: very left-wing commentators

After 40+ years as a subscriber, I am quitting Time magazine. While some of the news coverage that attracted me is still available, the strident progressive commentary, even embedded in the news coverage, is too annoying for me. Bye Time magazine, I will miss you a little.

Too Many Ads in Time Magazine on February 14, 2010 by Todd from U.S.

  • Pros: Great photography and name recognition
  • Cons: Too many ads

I know magazines need the ads for revenue, but the amount of ads in Time magazine is ridiculous. My question is this: Is Time magazine owned by one of the major pharmaceutical companies? I actually counted the number of pages in a recent issue and just the ads from the pharmaceutical companies equaled over 20 % of the total number of pages in the magazine. That is extraordinary. We could probably cut our health costs by 20 % if these companies would spend their money elsewhere rather than on advertising. The same is true for TV. I recommend the new Christian Science Monitor. It has very in-depth and balanced articles about subjects from around the world that are not covered by the other magazines. It takes me a couple of hours to read it. I can usually knock out Time magazine in a half hour.
